The tribute of San Felice to the accountant Ugo Fantozzi

What better way to remember one of the most beloved Italian cinema characters of all time? The accountant Ugo Fantozzi has kept company with many generations of Italians, providing moments of great fun. But that’s not all. In fact, it has always been created around the figure of the accountant over the years a real universe. Characterized by very specific characters, iconic phrases, colours, flavors and music that are now part of the cultural history of our country.

Thus, the town of San Felice sul Panaro decided to host a tribute that involved its own waysbecoming a meeting point for many fans from all parts of Italy.

Hundreds of participants filled the streets of San Felice. Some dressed as Villaggio’s character, others dressed up to resemble the Miss Silvani (played in the films by Anna Mazzamauro). Still others dressed like the very famous one Countess Serbelloni Mazzanti Comes From the Sea (in the films Nietta Zocchi and Evelina Gori) or as Fantozzi’s beloved wife, Pina (Liù Bosisio in the first, second and fifth films, and Milena Vukotic in the third, fourth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth).

There was no shortage of fans from the Fantozzi universe who played Mariangelathe accountant’s daughter who he often – because of her appearance – called “baboon” instead of “little girl”.

In addition to the figures, however, San Felice also hosted Paolo Villaggio’s daughter, Elisabetta Villaggiowho presented his book in Piazza Matteotti in the morning Fantozzi behind the scenes.

Twenty sets to recreate Fantozzi’s universe

The re-enactment of this entire iconic world was also possible thanks to about twenty large sets, created around the city, near the Rocca Estense. All with vintage cars, objects used during filming and the music that was linked to the films.

There was also a re-enactment of the Battleship Potemkin scene and it was the famous staircase from the films has been recreated that the members of the Megafirm were forced to watch (yes, there was also the office of the Galactic Megadirector).
