For their part, in addition to those sentenced to life imprisonment, Ayrton Viollaz, Blas Cinalli and Lucas Pertossi, as secondary participants, they were sentenced to 15 years in prison. The court announced the verdict after rejecting the motion for annulment requested by the rugbiers’ defense lawyer, Hugo Tomei.

From now on, both the prosecution and the defense will have seven days to present the appeal in the Court of Cassation of the Province of Buenos Aires, which does not have deadlines to rule on the subject, since despite the fact that the law establishes the need for as many lovers as possible to be issued on the case, Cassation could take a period of more than two years to pronounce a sentence, due to the large number of files they must review. In case of not complying with the stipulated term, they will not be able to appeal the sentence.

Once the sentence is known, the defendants will be taken to a maximum security prison, where it will be difficult for them to have the benefits of remaining united and isolated from the rest of the prisoners. In these conditions it is where they must wait for the resolution of Cassation, in case there are appeals. And later will be the instances of the provincial and national Supreme Court.

Due to the commotion that the case has generated in Argentine society and, particularly, in Dolores, the security of the place became a concern for the Court. To such an extent that during the allegations the number of police personnel and that of the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service, in charge of the transfer of the accused from the Warden of Unit 6 to the Courts: a distance of only 10 blocks. The entire block that includes the main access to the courts was also blocked.
