Victory in Hanover: Elversberg makes you serious in the promotion race

The SV Elversberg wins at Hannover 96 in the style of a real top team and mixes fully in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga.

Fisnik Asllani was once again the match winner for Elversberg with his three goals (55th, 78th, 90th+8) in the 3-1 win, it was the Seisontore 15, 16 and 17 for the center forward. Phil Neumann had given Hanover in the lead in the 12th minute.

The surprise team from Elversberg climbed to the relegation rank for the time being, but could still be overtaken by Kaiserslautern and Paderborn. Hanover slipped to eighth place and did not present himself like a team that can seriously register claims in the promotion race.

Hanover takes the first chance to lead

Hannovers Neumann used 35,000 fans to take the first chance of the game to take the lead. After a corner, Josh Knight initially failed with a header to Elversberg’s goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof. Neumann then reacted the fastest and was able to push the rebound into the goal in the five -meter room.

After the restart, Elversberg took even more risk and finally took control. Muhammed Damar (51.) left the great chance to compensate, five minutes later, asllani, after perfect preparatory work by Elias Baum, Elversberg’s striker lifted the ball into the net over target.

The guests remained the much more dangerous team. A sparkling clean combination then led to the winning goal: again Asllani brought himself into a good position, Neumann kept a safety distance, Asllani circulated the ball under the crossbar from 18 meters – and had the approximately 250 fans who were traveling from Saarland.

Hanover’s NGANKAM seriously injured

The game came to an end in a pressed mood: Hannovers Jessic Ngankam suffered a serious injury in added time after getting hard from Paul Stock. As Hannover 96 announced, the 24-year-old broke his shin and fibula. He was operated on in the evening.

After the long interruption, Asllani added the third goal, after a steep pass into the penalty area, he turned the target and pushed in to the 3-1 final score.

Elversberg gets the next chance to collect points in the promotion race on Holy Saturday (1 p.m.) against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Hanover has to exist on Easter Sunday (1.30 p.m.) at Darmstadt 98.
