Cross-country skiing Olympic champion Victoria Carl achieved her third top 10 result in the fourth competition of the season.

The 28-year-old finished ninth over ten kilometers in Gällivare, Sweden. The American Jessie Diggins took her 15th World Cup victory in double-digit temperatures below zero, while the German hopeful Katharina Hennig did not get past 20th place in the free technique, which she was less fond of.

After 25:50.7 minutes, Carl (Zella-Mehlis) was a good minute behind Diggins, who won well ahead of the Swedes Ebba Andersson, Moa Ilar and Emma Ribom.

Sofie Krehl (Oberstdorf) and Pia Fink (Bremelau) finished ahead of Hennig in 15th and 17th place, while junior world champion Helen Hoffmann (Oberhof) impressed in her World Cup debut in 28th place.

Team sprint Olympic champion Carl had already impressed in the distance races on the opening weekend in Kuusamo, finishing sixth and eighth. In the overall World Cup she is now in seventh place, Hennig is ninth.
