A case of pot calling the kettle wrong? Victor Vlam blames fellow talk show guest Job Knoester for scoring. He points out his blunder in VI. “That was not very good for his authority,” said the media critic.

Participating in a talk show earns a nice amount of money, so it is important for guests to be controversial: if you have nothing nice to say, you will not be asked next time and you will no longer be able to send an invoice. It is also important for someone like Job Knoester to show some added value.

Scoring drive

Today Inside, and the talk shows of Hélène Hendriks, require some fireworks from their guests. Victor Vlam knows this best; he recently shouted on TV that the 250,000 people who participated in the Gaza protest are all narcissists. But according to the media critic, Job Knoester can also do something about it, he says New Revu.

When Victor is asked in the magazine about his opinion about Job, he says: “I also remember a blunder, an awkward comment, about not voting. I think that was a learning moment in his career on television. There was a bit too much scoring drive behind it.”

Ugly jackets

It haunted Job for a long time, according to Victor. “He had to go back on that, which was not very good for his authority.”

What does he actually think of Job’s jackets? “Well, dramatic. Jokes are often made about those floral jackets. You have to love them and I’m not someone who loves them. It makes him authentic, so he should especially do it if he wants to. But I think those jackets are horrible.”

Not funny

Finally, Victor hints that he thinks Job came to the VI table with slime. “Knoester did well in terms of his role at Today Inside. In the beginning he sat at the bar, later he defended Johan Derksen well during the candle riot and that, I think, also contributed to him getting a chance at the table.”

“Does he fit in in terms of humor? No, Knoester is not funny. He is more someone who laughs along than he makes a good joke himself. But that is not necessarily his role or task.”
