Vice Olympic champion Shane Rose in the “Borat” suit – the association reacts

It is rare for people to talk about an equestrian competition outside of the Olympic Games, far beyond the boundaries of equestrian sports. Shane Rose changed that with a strange move.

Silver in Beijing 2008, bronze in Rio de Janeiro 2016, silver in Tokyo 2021. Australian equestrian Shane Rose celebrated an Olympic medal in the team three times. But the 50-year-old hardly received as much attention as he does now. Rose took part in the Wallaby Hill Extravaganza show jumping show tournament in Australia. The special thing: He wore a “Borat suit”, a tight swimsuit for men that was made famous in the film “Borat”.

The appearance immediately caused a sensation online and the pictures spread quickly. But this has no consequences.

The Australian Equestrian Association EA said after a meeting on Monday “that Mr Rose had not breached the code of conduct”.

For Rose, it was “a great relief that it happened like this and that I can prepare for Paris as best as possible,” he said. The Australian team is ranked 19th in the world. already qualified for the Olympic Games this summer.
