Contract duration and salary: total agreement between club and player, even if the one with Tottenham is missing. And while waiting to define Pepo’s future, the Nerazzurri are “supporting” the relegation of Spurs (third from last in the Premier League)
Guglielmo Vicario was and remains Inter’s favorite for next season’s goal, so the Nerazzurri management has decided to take a very important, perhaps decisive, step to bring him back to Italy. Which? Obtain a total agreement with the Tottenham goalkeeper, who Inter had come close to in the past – before he moved from Empoli to Spurs -, when the extended timing of the very fruitful transfer of Onana to Manchester United (50 million) convinced the goalkeeper to accept the Premier League by which he had historically always been quite fascinated. Vicario has taken his satisfaction away, and now, after a few years’ delay, he is ready to return to Serie A. The agreement between the Nerazzurri management and the goalkeeper’s entourage is total. Both on the duration of the contract and on the figures. But there are still a couple of steps left to line up all the dominoes. First: reach an agreement also between Inter and Tottenham, and the sums that the English club would require for the goalkeeper’s price tag would be much lower if they were to suffer a sensational relegation, which is why Inter would “root” against Spurs. Second: define the future of Josep Martinez, promoted with flying colors after his last few games as a starter but still in the balance between staying in Milan or saying goodbye. And if on the one hand Sommer’s farewell now seems obvious (no renewal is expected for the contract expiring on June 30th), everything remains open regarding the 12th former Genoa player.
revolving doors
—
In the last 3 matches between the championship and the Italian Cup, Josep Martinez started on 2 occasions: clean sheet in Serie A against Cagliari, turnaround against Como in the Italian Cup which guaranteed Inter qualification to the final. But above all the Spaniard convinced everyone, no easy feat for a goalkeeper who has played very little this year (also) due to the road accident that involved him near Appiano Gentile. Inter are at a crossroads, as is the Spaniard: on the one hand the club would be happy to keep him because they are sure of his potential, on the other Pepo himself is equally sure of it and therefore retains the desire to play as a starter. In the Nerazzurri or… elsewhere. In fact, it is unlikely that Martinez would agree to remain as second after two years as vice-Sommer, even though the Swiss himself (especially in the current season) has been far from impeccable. And to date no scenario in the Spaniard’s future can be considered to be excluded a priori. Revolving doors: one in, one out. But maybe not only…
