If it were up to Johan Derksen, Rafael van der Vaart would not be welcome as a regular table guest in Today Inside, but there is also little enthusiasm the other way around. “I told him that too.”
Rafael van der Vaart’s new book is published by Johan Derksen’s daughter, Marieke Derksen, so it is not very surprising that he was at Today Inside this week to promote that paper bundle. A day later, Johan indicated that he was not enthusiastic: “In terms of content, if it is not about a ball, I am not impressed.”
Zap away
A pretty painful judgement, but what about the other way around? Rafael is also not that enthusiastic about Johan. “I watch Today Inside every day. A great program as long as it is not about Johan himself. I also said to him. Too much politics makes me zap, I don’t tolerate that,” he says in The Telegraph.
What does the former footballer prefer to zap to? “Give me shows like All you need is love, which fills me up. And I also have a hard time with The family dinner. I just love that kind of TV. Es then says: are you crying again.”
Remigration
There is a chance that we will see Rafael more often on television. He currently lives in Bucharest due to his wife’s career. Eventually they will return to our country. “It is already clear that when we return to the Netherlands we will live near Arnhem. That is where she comes from.”
He concludes: “We have already looked here and there. And women often decide on these kinds of things. When it will happen depends on her. Next year. Or in two years. Furthermore, I think it’s completely fine if Estavana wants to decorate the house in bright pink with floral curtains. She just does it. If I have a large sofa and a large television, I feel at home.”
