Now it is official: VfL Wolfsburg and his head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl go with immediate effect and not only separate paths in summer. This was announced by the wolves late Sunday evening. U19 coach Daniel Bauer takes on the remaining two season games.

“Ralph Hasenhüttl took over VfL Wolfsburg in a difficult phase last season. He succeeded in stabilizing and leading the team in safe fairway. We would like to thank him for this. However, the results and development have decided in the past few months. We have made this decision in close coordination with the supervisory board. We wish Ralph for his professional and private future Hasenhüttl all the best, ”said VfL managing director Peter Christiansen.

Sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz said about the solution with Bauer: “Daniel is a man from his own ranks who knows VfL very well and delivered successful work in the young area. We still have goals in the last two games and are convinced that Daniel can give the team a fresh impulse with his high level of passion and identification.” The Wolfsburgers want to inform about the succession plan for the new season.

Hasenhüttl has come to a point cut of 1.36 since taking office in March 2024 and was therefore more successful than his predecessors Kovac (1.3), Florian Kohfeldt (1.14) and Mark van Bommel (1.15). Nevertheless, the current season is another disappointment: Wolfsburg ranks 12th with 39 points (to the table), the European places are out of reach in the fourth year in a row. In addition, the team has been waiting for a win for eight games in the league.
