The VfL Wolfsburg is a report of “Picture” reportedly interested in right-back Jeremy Toljan. The negotiations are in full swing. The 27-year-old currently plays in Serie A for Sassuolo Calcio and has made 76 appearances since 2019 for the eleventh-placed team last season. For no other club in his career has the 2017 U21 European champion been on the ball more often.
According to the newspaper, Sassuolo is demanding 5 million euros for Toljan (contract until 2025), but the “wolves” want to reduce the transfer fee, it is said. Born in Stuttgart, he moved from Borussia Dortmund to Italy for a further EUR 3.5 million in 2021 after a two-year loan for a fee of EUR 2.25 million. After moving from TSG Hoffenheim for €7m in 2017, he only made 23 appearances (one goal) for the Black and Yellows.
Toljan could come as a replacement for Kevin Mbabu (27), who is said to have submitted his change request internally. If the Swiss player were to leave, Kilian Fischer (21), who had just been signed by 1. FC Nürnberg, and Ridle Baku (24) would be available for the right back position.
