Captain Anthony Losilla from VfL Bochum misses the final determination in the Bundesliga relegation battle. “We have to work on that because we will soon need three points again to get out of the situation,” said the veteran after the goalless draw at newly promoted 1. FC Heidenheim.
VfL has only had one win this season after twelve match days, but there have already been seven draws. In the top 5 leagues, only Udinese Calcio (8 draws in 13 games) shared points with their opponents more often. “We remain positive because we got a point away from home against a direct competitor and didn’t concede a goal,” said Losilla.
Defender Keven Schlotterbeck also struggled with the result. “The point is of course not enough. We wanted to win and we came here with that goal,” he said. Against Heidenheim he received a yellow card for the fourth time this season, and another one resulted in a suspension. “But I will always throw myself into it and not change the way I play,” said Schlotterbeck.
Before the Christmas break, Bochum will face VfL Wolfsburg and 1. FC Union Berlin at home. There are also games against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen. “A home win would help us and we have the next opportunity against Wolfsburg,” said Losilla. VfL celebrated their only three points so far against newly promoted SV Darmstadt 98 (2:1).
