VfL Bochum is apparently interested in signing center forward Lys Mousset, who was recently loaned out by English second division club Sheffield United to US Salernitana in Serie A. According to the editors of the transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio the 26-year-old, who has been without a club since July 1, is about to be transferred to the Bundesliga club.

With a market value of 6 million euros, Mousset Stand would now be the most valuable player in VfL coach Thomas Reis’ squad. Trained at AC Le Havre, the attacking force made 99 Premier League appearances (13 goals) for AFC Bournemouth and former club Sheffield United, but only managed 157 minutes during the six-month loan to Italy due to injury.

In Bochum, the eight-time France U21 international could close the gap in attack that was created by the departures of Sebastian Polter, Jürgen Locadia and Luis Hartwig. With Philipp Hofmann, the Ruhrpott-Klub had made a transfer for the storm center in the summer (overview). In the TM rumor mill, a possible move for Mousset to the Bundesliga is being discussed controversially.

“Age and potential could fit here and Bochum could be a chance for him. So why not?” asks user “rosicky1990”. “Chris SVW”, on the other hand, doubts that VfL could handle the financial package in the course of signing the centre-forward: “I’m just wondering how the salary expectations of both parties should fit together. It’s all conjecture, but I think Premier League salary and Bochum doesn’t really fit.” The user “Beavertown” is of the opinion: “On the subject of Premier League salary and Bochum: Locadia came to Bochum in the winter and previously played for Brighton who are yet to be resettled via Sheffield. (…) Sometimes players have to lower their expectations.”
