With their first win in three months, Dynamo Dresden left the direct relegation zone in the 2nd Bundesliga and stopped VfL Bochum’s soaring fortunes. The Saxons won 2-1 (2-0) in the Bochum Ruhrstadion against the Revierklub and celebrated their second win of the season, their first win after eight league games and a jump to 16th place. The hosts, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat after ten points from five games under new coach Uwe Rösler.
Dresden coach Thomas Stamm reorganized his team after the two-week international break and appointed five new professionals to the starting line-up. In addition, the Dresden team were very compact with a defensive line of five and made life difficult for the hosts. Alexander Rossipal then took advantage of a carelessness in the VfL defense and scored 1-0 for the guests in the 25th minute. Former Düsseldorf player Vincent Vermeij (45.+1) then tipped the ball into the goal after a counterattack before the break to make it 2-0 for the well-played guests.
Bochum managed to score the next goal after just under an hour through Cajetan Lenz (58th) and pushed up the pace. The unfortunate VfL professional Francis Onyeka shot a penalty kick next to the goal (76th). It was no longer enough for the hosts to equalize.
Hertha BSC continues its winning streak: next success against Eintracht Braunschweig
Hertha BSC continues its comeback with its fourth league win in a row. Coach Stefan Leitl’s team beat Eintracht Braunschweig with some difficulty in their home Berlin Olympic Stadium 1-0 (0-0) and jumped to fourth place for at least one night. For the capital club, it was already the fifth competitive win in a row – Hertha had not achieved that in a season since 2001. Lower Saxony, on the other hand, lost for the fourth time in a row and is deep in the relegation battle. In front of 42,895 spectators, Marten Winkler scored the winning goal for Hertha (56th minute).
Both fan camps protested in the first twelve minutes of the game against the planned security measures by politicians in German stadiums and stopped chanting. The guests got off to a better start on the grass that had been repaired after the NFL guest game in Berlin. In the eighth minute, Patrick Nkoa headed wide from close range after an extended free kick.
Hertha came more often through captain Fabian Reese on the right wing. One of his crosses was blocked (19th). In another one, Winkler didn’t get enough pressure behind his header (27′). Shortly before the break, Christian Conteh had the Lower Saxony lead, which would not have been undeserved. He got the better of Marton Dardai, but shot just wide of the goal from a tight angle (45’+1).

Then Winkler did better than in the first half. After another cross from Reese, the 23-year-old headed in. Shortly afterwards, Braunschweig’s goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann was just able to fend off a shot from Linus Gechter. The home side took control but didn’t finish their attacks well. After looking at the video images shortly before the end, referee Michael Bacher did not award a hand penalty for Braunschweig that was initially whistled.
