VfB Stuttgart | Völler praises “Schlitzohr” Undav

DFB sports director Rudi Völler gave high-flyer Deniz Undav and other VfB Stuttgart professionals great hope of being nominated for the national team.

Offensive player Undav is “on the list” with national coach Julian Nagelsmann, Völler assured on Tuesday on ARD, “I can reveal that here. He deserves that too.”

The 27-year-old Undav is a “little rascal with wonderful shooting technique” and a “really good player – like many Stuttgart players,” said Völler. VfB went to the cup quarter-finals against Bayer Leverkusen with eight German players in the starting line-up. “That’s extraordinary,” said Völler.

There are “some Stuttgart players who are very interesting,” said the former DFB team boss and added meaningfully: “There will be some, that’s my feeling, at the next international matches.”

Germany will play the first two international matches of the 2024 European Championship year on March 23rd (9:00 p.m./ZDF) against runner-up world champions France in Lyon and on March 26th (8:45 p.m./RTL) against the Netherlands in Frankfurt. Nagelsmann’s team will face Scotland in their first European Championship game on June 14th in Munich. Dates and opponents for possible further games as part of the preparation for the home European Championship have not yet been determined.
