Stuttgart have two extra games before they can reach the round of 16 in the Europa League. It is now clear who the Swabians will face.
After the exciting preliminary round conclusion, VfB Stuttgart missed out on a direct place in the round of 16 in the Europa League and will now face Celtic Glasgow in the playoffs. This was the result of the draw on Friday in Nyon.
Record national player Lothar Matthäus still has a lot of potential for VfB internationally despite the detour. “Even if they are not in the top eight, VfB is one of the favorites for me,” he said on RTL on Thursday.
The two intermediate round games on February 19th and 26th will decide who will reach the round of 16. Possible opponents in the round of 16 in mid-March would be the Portuguese representatives Porto or Braga. After the quarter-finals and semi-finals, the final will take place on May 20, 2026 in Istanbul.
