VfB Oldenburg separates from coach Dario Fossi

Third division football club VfB Oldenburg has reacted to the sporting decline and parted ways with coach Dario Fossi. The 41-year-old led Lower Saxony into the 3rd division last year. For the time being, assistant coach and ex-second division player Frank Löning has taken over the supervision of the team.

“We’re in a very difficult sporting situation, haven’t won in seven games and see it as our duty to do everything we can to keep up the class,” said Sebastian Schachten, Oldenburg’s sporting director.

VfB have only managed one win in their last 15 league games since mid-October, losing the last four games. The promoted team is on the penultimate place in the table with 21 points. The non-relegation zones are three points away after matchday 25.

League competitor SV Meppen had already parted ways with coach Stefan Krämer on Saturday.
