Nick Woltemade now stands on the lawn for Newcastle United. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has commented on the personnel-and congratulated VfB Stuttgart.
FC Bayern had been trying intensively this summer around the then Stuttgart Nick Woltemade. The transfer of the German record champion apparently also failed due to internal resistance. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge clearly spoke out against a million deal for the DFB player within the club.
On Sunday evening, the former CEO on “Bavarian Radio” said that he had warned: “We are coming in in order of magnitude, I can no longer find them acceptable. We should not meet all of the demands.”
With this attitude, Rummenigge also turned to Uli Hoeneß, Herbert Hainer, Max Eberl and Jan-Christian Dreesen, as he said in the program “Blickpunkt Sport”. Woltemade then switched to England for an even higher sum.
Rummenigge therefore emphasized on Woltemade, who is now playing for Newcastle United: “I can only congratulate them in Stuttgart that they have now found one – I now say in quotation marks – Idiots who paid so much money – because we would not have been secured in Munich.” The transfer fee is said to have been around 90 million euros.
Rummenigge warned of ever higher sums in professional football. He campaigned for the World Association FIFA and the European Football Union UEFA to organize a common dialogue.
“You are responsible for all the transfer topics. We cannot keep going every year, more and more, and faster.
In addition to Woltemade, the Munich people didn’t get Florian Wirtz either. “We actually feel a bit sorry for Florian because he is a great player and I think he would have suited us perfectly too,” added Rummenigge. Instead, the national player switched from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool FC and has so far experienced a difficult start at the English champions.
