Berlin (AP) – Sebastian Vettel’s Formula 1 team boss has countered rumors about a possible commitment by Mick Schumacher.

“We clearly have our way that we want to continue with Sebastian and we’ll see everything else at a later date,” said Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack the TV station RTL / ntv. It was recently speculated that 23-year-old Schumacher could succeed 34-year-old Vettel in the racing team next season. Vettel’s contract expires after this season.

However, team boss Krack reaffirmed his interest in further cooperation with the four-time world champion. “When you have a driver like Sebastian, you have to try to keep him. It’s just a mixture of extreme driving quality and experience and also a very, very positive person who helps us,” said the Luxembourger.

The 50-year-old praised Vettel’s attitude despite the sporting problems with the Aston Martin, which was usually too slow. “Nobody drives like that who doesn’t want to drive. Nobody acts like that who doesn’t want to drive,” said Krack. After seven races of the season, Vettel is only 15th in the overall standings with five points.
