Very large fire in Rijswijk business premises, hotel evacuated
During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, a very large fire raged in several business premises on the Van Gijnstraat in Rijswijk. Flames shoot meters high from the roof and a lot of smoke is released. Also bangs are heard. According to the fire service, these are probably gas cylinders that are present in the buildings and that explode due to the heat. The buildings include car companies. A nearby hotel has been evacuated.
The fire brigade deploys many vehicles and personnel to extinguish the fire. Various corps provide assistance. The fire service is calling on people to stay out of the smoke. Measuring teams map out how the smoke spreads over the environment. The smoke is not dangerous, according to the fire service, but it can be a nuisance.
