The double victory in the USA opens up new scenarios: Piastri and Norris now have to watch their backs
Max Verstappen’s double victory in the Austin GP (Sprint and long race) has completely reopened the race for the drivers’ world title: there are still five Grands Prix to race and two Sprints for a total of 141 points up for grabs. So let’s find out the odds on Verstappen winning the world championship in the Formula 1 championship which will end on December 7th.
VERSTAPPEN WORLD WINNING ODDS
—
At the end of the Dutch Grand Prix, at the end of August, Verstappen was even 104 points behind Oscar Piastri, who now seemed one step away from the world title: only his teammate Norris seemed able to compete with him and, instead, in two months everything was reversed. Red Bull returned to the top in terms of performance on the track and the champion Max brought the rest, that is, class and talent.
In the last four events, the four-time world champion has won three Grand Prix and a Sprint with a sensational double in the USA, on the Austin track. His gap from Piastri, still leading the drivers’ championship, has been reduced to 40 points while that from Norris, in second place, has dropped to 26. Considering that there are still five Grands Prix plus two Sprints, we can consider the championship completely reopened. The bookies of the main betting sites have dropped the world Max odds for the fifth consecutive time: on the board this event is at 2.75 on Admiralbet, Snai and William Hill and 2.50 on Bwin.
THE DEFENSE OF PIASTRI AND NORRIS
—
The Papaya drivers are still ahead but their crisis was certified by the clash at the start of the Austin Sprint where the two drivers immediately left the scene. In the race, however, the Australian only finished fifth while the Briton managed to place second behind Verstappen and ahead of Leclerc. The rivalry between the two from McLaren could be an advantage for Max who coolly dominated three of the last four races demonstrating a worrying excessive power for the Milton Keynes company. Piastri, who is still leading the drivers’ standings with 346 points, is worth 2.50 on Admiralbet, Snai and William Hill. Norris, who trails at 332 points, is on the board at 3.00. From today onwards, they no longer have any certainty about the title even at McLaren.
