World champion Max Verstappen has set the fourth fastest time in his Red Bull in the first free practice for the Australian Grand Prix. Verstappen had to lose on the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne against Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez.

Sainz finished first, Leclerc followed with a time difference of 0.571 seconds. Third was Perez with 0.593 seconds on Sainz and Verstappen conceded 0.820 seconds.

The training started at 5:00 AM Dutch time. A second free practice will follow at 8:00 AM. The Australian Grand Prix is ​​the third race of the year.
