After six weeks of violent mudslinging in front of the Virginia court, it is clear: Hollywood star Johnny Depp has been wrongly accused of domestic violence. The seven-member jury found that the piece his ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, wrote in The Washington Post slandered Depp.

The jury found Amber Heard guilty! Johnny Depp is awarded $15 million in damages.

However, the jury also found Amber Heard’s counterclaim to be valid. She gets $2 million, which will be deducted from Depp’s damage total.

REMINDER: In his civil lawsuit, Johnny Depp accuses his ex-wife of making false statements in a 2018 op-ed about domestic violence published by The Washington Post. It would have ruined his career.

Depp is suing for $50 million in damages for defamation. Heard counterclaimed $100 million. She accused Depp’s ex-lawyer Adam Waldman of damaging her reputation with a smear campaign.

► CURIOUS: The verdict was delayed by a few minutes because the jury had not entered the amount of damage. Judge Penney Azcarate had therefore sent the jury out of the room again.

Johnny Depp was not present for the sentencing. He is currently in England playing concerts with musician Jeff Beck. Amber Heard appeared in person and appeared depressed as the verdict was announced.
