According to the union, employees of the online mail order company Amazon in Leipzig stopped working again on Sunday evening. About 400 employees took part in the industrial action, which should last until Monday evening, said Verdi department head Jörg Lauenroth-Mago on Monday. Because of the corona pandemic, only smaller rallies with up to 10 people are planned in front of the Leipzig location.

Even before Christmas, Verdi had called for actions at the Amazon location in Leipzig. The service union has been campaigning for payment of Amazon employees in accordance with the industry-standard collective agreement for retail and mail order for years. (dpa)
