They come with thousands at the same time. Early in the morning they step out of the coaches, pull through the alleys in a column, make selfies on the bridges, feed pigeons on the San Marcoplein and disappear again by the evening, often without leaving a euro behind. In Venice, frustration is growing. The city is flooded by day -to -day tourists who don’t buy anything, film everything and without interest in the soul of Venice. For Setrak Tokatzian, jeweler and chairman of the traders around San Marcoplein, the size is full. His proposal? “Let them pay 100 euros access.”
