Venice 2023: not only cinematographic art, commitment is also rewarded

PFor the first time in the history – not only of the Exhibition, but in that of major exhibitions tout court – in Venice 2023 a prize will be awarded to the film in the competition destined to have the greatest social resonance. It will be called the Collateral Impact Award and will be presented at the Procuratie Vecchie, in Piazza San Marco, in an event whose title is already a programme: Lights! Room! Impact! From moving pictures to moving ideas and action (an exploration and celebration of cinema that puts creativity at the service of the great issues of our time).

Unique frame

The evening is organized – in the unique setting of the building renovated by David Chipperfield – by The Human Safety Net (founded in 2017 by the Generali Group), in collaboration with Think Film Impact Production and with Vital Voices Global Partnership.

Possible winners

The award will be assigned by a jury composed of Elsa Zylberstein (present at Venice 80 also in the cast of Coupe de chance by Woody Allen)Yalitza Aparicio (protagonist of Rome by Alfonso Cuarón, Golden Lion 2018 and Oscar 2019), the Lebanese director, actress and activist Nadine Labaki, the Anglo-Nigerian screenwriter Misan Sagay and the director-documentary Stefano Savona.
