Ct is a time of the year when time seems to slow down, the colors become more intense and the stories come back to life among frescoes, gardens and period halls. AND the Day of the Venetian Villas, which is on 18 and 19 October coming years will transform Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia into a widespread stage of beauty, culture and autumnal enchantment. It’s not just an event or a different way to spend the weekend. The Day is a real invitation to slow down, to look, to listen.

Venetian Villas Day, a weekend between dreams and memories

The Day of the Venetian Villas, in fact, does not offer simple guided tours, but experiences to be enjoyed with all the senses: tastings, walks, workshops, moments of well-being and even nights to spend in historic homes. Over 100 villas open their doors to welcome the public for a weekend that smells of dry leaves, new wine and memories. Each participating villa offers different activities, divided into seven thematic routesHeritage, Green, Family, Wine&Food, Dream, Wellbeing and Villa Life, designed to adapt to every type of traveller: families, couples, art enthusiasts, nature lovers or simply curious people.

Villa Barbaro: harmony according to Palladio

Among the homes open to the public, in Maser, in the province of Treviso, stands one of the most iconic villas of the Venetian Renaissance: Villa Barbaro. Designed by Andrea Palladio and frescoed by Paolo Veronese, it is a living manifesto of the humanist ideal. Here, the architecture dialogues with the landscape and each room tells a vision of the world in which beauty and functionality blend. During the Venetian Villas Day, it will be possible to explore their interiors, walk through the surrounding vineyards and participate in local wine tastings, in an atmosphere suspended between art and nature.

Doges, kings and even Napoleon have stayed here. During the weekend, the villa comes alive with theatrical visits, concerts and sensory itineraries which restore the splendor of eighteenth-century noble life.

Castle of San Pelagio: where you dream of flight

In Due Carrare, in the province of Padua, the Castle of San Pelagio preserves a different history: that of flight. It was from here that Gabriele D’Annunzio left for the famous flight to Vienna in 1918. Today, the villa houses a museum dedicated to aviation and a romantic park with labyrinths and centuries-old trees. During the weekend, the castle offers family itineraries, creative workshops and poetic walks among the ancient roses.

Villa Gallici Deciani: the gentle heart of Friuli

In Montegnacco di Cassacco, in the province of Udine, there is Villa Gallici Deciani, a home that does not show off, but welcomes. Immersed in the greenery of the Friulian hills, this villa tells a story of deep roots and authentic hospitality. Built in the eighteenth century, it is still inhabited today by the descendants of the Deciani family, who open doors with discretion and passion. During the Venetian Villas Day, intertwining experiences will be proposed family memory, landscape and local culture: guided tours led by the owners, tastings of Friulian products, readings under the porch and walks among centuries-old trees. Here, time is not stopped: it is simply slower, more human.

A weekend to meet up

These are just some of the villas that will open to show their beauty. But they all have their own rhythm, their own voice, their own way of telling stories. Some offer period breakfasts, others meditations at dawn, still others cooking workshops or olfactory journeys among aromatic herbs. Autumn, with its soft light and intense scents, will make everything more intimate, more real. On the official website of the event you can consult the interactive mapfilter experiences by theme or location and book in advance. Some activities will also take place in case of bad weather.

An invitation to enter, indeed

The Day of the Venetian Villas is much more than a cultural event: it is a concrete opportunity to rediscover the territory through its architecture, family stories, cultivated landscapes and the traditions that still resist. Visiting a villa does not just mean admiring frescoes or gardens, but entering a system of relationships, memories and choices that have shaped the present. Whether it’s a walk through the vineyards, a children’s workshop, a dinner in the lounge or a conversation with those who still live in those places, each experience proposed during the Day of the Venetian Villas returns a fragment of reality. And it reminds us that heritage is not only to be preserved, but to be experienced and questioned.
