The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia changed the forecast for inflation rates in 2022, increasing it from 4% to 5.9%. Updated estimates submitted to government for review report Vedomosti, citing a federal official. Information about the revision of inflation rates was confirmed to the newspaper by a source close to the government, as well as a source familiar with the ministry’s estimates.

The indicator was revised as part of the implementation of the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to clarify the main parameters of the forecast for the socio-economic development of the country, the representative of the Ministry of Economics explained. According to him, the dynamics of inflation this year will depend, first of all, on the pace of global inflation, on the speed of recovery of global supply chains, as well as on the situation with the harvest in the states – key producers of agricultural products.

According to a source close to the Cabinet, despite the fact that the new forecast has already been formed, its parameters are flexible and largely depend on the market situation.

At the same time, an unnamed federal official clarified that the authorities are already discussing how much budgetary funds will be available this year in addition to the amounts already provided for in the law.
