The American Vice President JD Vance assumes that a fundamental solution for the future of the Video app TIKTOK will be found in the United States by the beginning of April.
There will be an agreement “almost safe” that will remove the security concerns and the way for a U.S. company from Tikkok Ebne, Vance told the TV station NBC.
According to a US law, Tikok would have had to be sold by the owner of China by January 19 – or left the network in the USA. But President Donald Trump admitted a mercy period of 75 days that runs on April 5. He also promised an extension of the deadline – although there is no basis in the law.
In the United States, it is warned that the Chinese government could collect information about American users on Tikkok and influence public opinion. Tikok rejects this.
Vance had been commissioned by Trump to supervise the search for a solution for Tiktok. Neither bytedance nor Tiktok have so far been publicly ready for a separation. Trump insists that the service must come under American control. In the meantime, he had said that “the USA” should have a share of 50 percent.
Green light from Beijing necessary
Trump had admitted that you “probably” need China’s approval for a deal for Tikok. But he thinks that Beijing will be interested in “because it is also an advantage”. The Chinese government banned the sale of algorithms such as that from Tikkok abroad without its approval. The software decides which videos you get to see and is the cornerstone of the platform.
The website “The Information” reported this week that the American software group Oracle was the most promising candidate to be part of a deal on the US side. The management of bytedance and Trump are also in favor, it was said, citing involved. At the same time, bytedance wanted to remain involved in Tikkok’s operation.
New chance for “Project Texas”?
The Chinese owner therefore hopes that Trump will accept the “Project Texas” plan, which has been driven for years, which has been stored by US users in the United States and monitored Oracle data flows and software updates. The government of Trump’s predecessor was not sure enough. For Europe, Tiktok has a similar plan called “Project Clover” for data storage in Ireland.
Trump wanted to bring Tiktok under a prohibition threatening in his first term, but was stopped by US courts. The law provides a legal basis for a Tikok Aus Aus Aus – but Trump now points out that the app has contributed to its election victory and wants to receive it.
