Van Gerwen quickly finished in the twelfth round of the Premier League

Michael van Gerwen has never lost a match in Dublin, the place where the twelfth round of the Premier League was scheduled. But on Thursday evening, that special series came to an end. De Vlijmenaar lost in the first round against James Wade.

The match against James Wade was of a high level. Both darters threw a high average and gave the 8000 dart fans in the room a show. In the second leg, Van Gerwen gave the go-ahead for a wonderful darts match with a 129 finish.

Wade then took matters into his own hands and ran out to a 4-1 lead. The game seemed quickly decided but Van Gerwen showed resilience and came back to 4-4 including a 130 finish in the eighth leg.

Missed match darts
The Brabant darter then got one dart to break Wade, but missed double four, which meant that the Englishman took the lead again. Van Gerwen already survived a match dart in the tenth leg. One more came in the all-deciding eleventh leg. After the resident of Vlijmen himself also missed two match darts, Wade’s fifth match dart was hit.

Due to the loss, Van Gerwen takes no points in the twelfth round. Last week the Dutchman lost his lead to Clayton. Only if Wade or Peter Wright win the round on Thursday evening will the second place in the standings be endangered.
