with videoMichael van Gerwen has not lost a leg against the Scotsman Peter Wright in the quarterfinals of the International Darts Open. In the German Riesa it became 6-0 Mighty Mikewho will face audience favorite Martin Schindler in the semifinals later tonight (around 9 p.m.).

Van Gerwen already left the Portuguese José de Sousa without a chance in the eighth finals of the third PDC Euro Tour tournament of the year (6-1). Dirk van Duijvenbode was too strong for Australian Damon Heta in the quarterfinals: 6-4. Aubergenius earlier today defeated Danny Noppert in a Dutch get-together in the last sixteen: 6-5.

Van Gerwen was especially impressive against Wright in the doubles: six out of seven. Snakebite had four chances to win a leg, but also missed four times. The Dutchman stayed in the race for the title by throwing double sixteen.

The German Schindler, Van Gerwen’s opponent in the semifinals, defeated Welshman Jonny Clayton in the last eight 6-3. The final is also scheduled for tonight in the Sachsenarena. Last year the title went to Gerwyn Price. Van Gerwen has never won the International Darts Open, on the calendar since 2015.


Van Duijenbode – Noppert

Van Duijvenbode defeated compatriot Noppert in the eighth finals after a blistering match 6-5. After five legs, Noppert was still leading 2-3, but Van Duijvenbode turned that around nicely. In the last leg it was even for a long time.

Aubergeniuswho threw 180 eight times, got two arrows on the double for the win on 41. He only needed one to honor his compatriot, nicknamed The Freezeto send home.
