Ellen ten Damme is disappointed in the progress of the recordings of Boerderij Van Dorst, the popular celebrity program by Raven van Dorst. “I always forget that everything is fake on TV.”
The season is over for Raven van Dorst: the last episode of his celebrity interview show Boerderij Van Dorst entertained almost 1.1 million viewers last week. The last guests were Ellen ten Damme and Kaj Gorgels. Ellen not only told something about the Ali B affair, but also about her boyfriend, who is more than thirty years her junior.
‘Everything is fake!’
How did Ellen feel about being a guest at Raven? “It’s nice in itself,” she says A.D. “Only: I always forget that it is TV and that everything is fake.”
Van Dorst Farm seems very authentic television, but according to Ellen it is also simply staged. “It seems like I’m cooking and have thought about a menu for a long time. But I cut some vegetables on screen and then something came to the table from the catering. And then you have to play a kind of version of yourself: you’re welcome, do you like it?”
‘Very difficult’
Ellen is very disappointed in that and she did not expect that from Raven. “I find that difficult and get completely confused at such a moment. While acting a role, getting into the shoes of someone else, takes no effort at all for me.”
She also regrets saying anything about her boyfriend, who could have been her grandson. She doesn’t want to elaborate too much on that now. “Then I immediately end up in all kinds of gossip columns and I don’t feel like that.”
Retired
What does Ellen actually do such a TV appearance for? She doesn’t even have to work anymore, she says. “I have houseboats in Amsterdam, a warehouse in Wormerveer, sheds and a house in France. I could retire if I wanted to.”
Finally, the standard question that every artist gets these days: does she want to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest? “No, no, not at all. I hear that very often, but I’m not particularly a fan. It seems like a big media circus to me and I don’t want to be a puppet that shows up on demand.”
