The Council of Ministers of the Kingdom has agreed to the proposal of Minister Yeşilgöz-Zegerius of Justice and Security to nominate Mr. CJL (Chris) Van Dam for appointment as chairman of the Dutch Safety Board (OVV). The appointment will take effect on 1 May 2023 for a period of four years.

Since October 2022, Mr Van Dam has been a trainee judge at the criminal sector court in Rotterdam. In the period from 2017 to 2022, Van Dam was a Member of Parliament on behalf of the CDA. Before that, he was a public prosecutor in Haarlem, Amsterdam and The Hague for more than 10 years. Van Dam started his career in 1985 with the police as mobile unit commander. Van Dam succeeds Jeroen Dijsselbloem, who has been chairman of the OVV since 2019.
