On X he gives the reason that “acting of the party board” has undermined his “role as a party leader”. That would have “forced” him to this step.
What exactly is going on between the party board and Van Baarle, he does not say. “Think deserves peace. The party is bigger than all of us. So I don’t comment,” writes Van Baarle on X.
Conflict about list of candidates
El Abassi and Ergin have reported on X that the party board must leave and Van Baarle must remain as a party leader. The conflict is about the list of candidates for the parliamentary elections at the end of October, says Ergin. In addition, chairman Ejder Köse would have shouted to Van Baarle that it is ‘swallowing or choking’ and he must accept the list of the board. According to the group, the “broad diversity was insufficiently included” on the list of the board. According to Ergin, that diversity on the list was an important condition for Van Baarle and the group.
Several party members were aware of the conflict and wanted to organize an extraordinary members’ meeting on this. Although they had sufficient support for such a meeting with more than seven hundred signatures, the process was trained by the board according to Ergin.
The only solution for the group is that the board, under the leadership of Köse, will leave as soon as possible, so that a new list of candidates can be made and a party congress can be held about it. Van Baarle is the only possible party leader of DENK for El Abassi and Ergin. What the two MPs do if the board does not stop, Ergin could not say yet.
The party board, which consists of chairman Ejder Köse, Fazli Kafa and Abdul Maroof, has not yet responded.
