The man who died this morning while hydrospeed in the waters of the Sesia River was stuck underwater, after having capsized with the floating bob he was on. The accident occurred in Scopetta, between Scopa and Balmuccia (Vercelli), and involved a young man, whose identity has not been disclosed at the moment.

According to the first accounts of the rescuers, the victim was with his brother on the floating bob, an instrument that is maneuvered individually with the weight of the body and is used in this sport to travel the river. The hydrospeed at one point overturned, and the victim’s right leg got stuck under a boulder. The young man, unable to get back up, drowned.

The rescues were useless, in which the Alpine Rescue of the financial police and the health team also took part: the teams did everything to free the leg, which in the meantime had fractured, and make the sportsman emerge in time.
