The story of Andoni Iraola at Rayo Vallecano will come to an end. After three seasons on the bench at the Vallecas stadium, the Basque coach rejected the renewal offer and will leave the club once the campaign ends, according to information from ‘Relevo’.
The former Athletic Club soccer player has not yet decided what his next step will be, although he has some good credentials to show. He arrived at the Vallecano club in 2020 and it only took him a year to return them to LaLiga Santander, qualifying as sixth in the promotion playoff but beating a whole Girona team in the final tie.
In the course of the return, Iraola saved the team with good numbers, adding 42 units and redoubling the bet in the current campaign, where he already has 46 and with the possibility -although already very complicated- of qualifying for the Conference League.
Even without becoming official, Rayo must now find a new direction for his project. Francisco and Pacheta seem to be two candidates to take the bench next seasonaccording to the aforementioned medium.
