Valentine’s Day means peak crowds in Eelde: ‘We are still romantic here’

Which flowers are auctioned the most? “The red roses, of course, but we are in the tulip season, so also a lot of tulips. Bouquets, bulbs in a pot, daffodils, hyacinths and red flowers such as gerberas and alstroemerias are also popular,” the location manager sums up. “And it was nice weather today, isn’t it, that often invites you to buy flowers. What conclusion do I draw from this? That we are still romantic here in the North”, he laughs.

Although Bugel himself is in the flowers practically every day, he has not yet been surprised with a flower on Valentine’s Day. “But I will bring a large bunch of red roses for my wife myself,” he reveals. “Only you shouldn’t put that online before 6 p.m., because I won’t be home then.”
