Valentijn Driessen strikes a chord with Wilfred Genee, because the Telegraaf muppet says straight to the Today Inside star’s face that he thinks his new single is bad. “Really not good.”
Things are starting to get crazy with Wilfred Genee’s karaoke hobby. The presenter likes to lash out at types like John de Bever in his show Today Inside, but the fairground quality of his own repertoire is even more embarrassing. He has now released the song Blijbaarheid, which was even sung in VI itself, but Valentijn Driessen is not convinced.
‘Bad song!’
Valentine thinks it’s rubbish. “That number of yours is not good,” he says sternly in the chat section In The Walkways.
Wilfred doesn’t like to hear that. “What now? It looks really good! It’s already rising!”
Valentine: “It can rise, Wilfred, but the other one got stuck, and now I don’t know what it’s about anymore. It’s about something like superstition.”
Wilfred: “Very faithful. If you hear it three times…”
‘I’m serious’
When Tina Nijkamp notes that her son likes Wilfred’s video clip, the presenter shouts: “Do you hear that? It’s taste! I think it’s the best song I’ve made so far! What does that matter!”
Valentijn: “Yes, I hear that from all those artists!”
Wilfred: “No, I really think so. I mean that seriously.”
Valentijn: “I always read that in Private: ‘Oh, I am so happy with the fifth wife I now have.’”
Wilfred: “What are you talking about?”
Critical
It bothers Wilfred enormously. “If anyone is critical of their own work, it is me. If I make a bad broadcast, the first thing I think of is that it sucks, you know.”
Valentijn: “Yes, you are critical, but you are not critical of your singing numbers at all.”
Wilfred: “I can’t sing, but I can…”
Valentijn concludes: “That first song will stick, but this won’t stick.”
