Valencian Community | Ximo Puig is listed above Sánchez and Feijóo leads Mazón

In the Socialist Party, the brand Ximo Puig is trading higher, above that of Pedro Sanchez in the Valencian Community, while within the Popular Party the result is reversed and it is Alberto Núñez Feijóo who achieves a rating higher than that obtained by Carlos Mazon. This follows from the political survey carried out by the Gabinet d’Estudis Socials i Opinió Pública (Gesop) for Information, Levante-EMV and Mediterráneo, all from the Prensa Ibérica group, which indicates that the note granted by citizenship to the leaders of the main left and right parties in Spain and the Valencian Community is inversely proportional.

If the leader of the PSPV-PSOE and President of the Generalitat Valenciana obtains a score of 5.4 points Out of 10 according to the results of the survey, the assessment of the President of the Government and number one of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, falls below five and obtains a fail. The resident of La Moncloa is given a score of 4.5. He only surpasses Puig in terms of notoriety, being known by 99.9% of those surveyed compared to 98.2% of the head of the Consell. The evolution of more or less wear on the figure of the president of the central Executive between now and the regional elections, scheduled in principle for May 28, 2023, will condition the more or less active role that he can play in Puig’s electoral campaign.

In recent weeks, the president of the Generalitat has distanced himself on a fundamental issue from the line set by Ferraz, contrary to the tax cuts that some regional governments have been promoting. Puig was, in this case, the first socialist baron to announce a tax reform and, finally, even the Sánchez government entered the battle of drops of taxes as a measure of response to inflation.

Mazón, for his part, benefits from the tailwind that means that the national leader of his party obtains a rating four points above his own, with 4.3 and 4.7, respectively. Also of the degree of knowledge of the national leader of his party among the Valencian citizens. The former president of Government of Galicia obtains a degree of notoriety that reaches 90.2% of those surveyed compared to 45.5% of Mazón. In the event that this trend continues, it is assumed that Feijóo will play a very active role in the race from Alicante to conquer the Palau de la Generalitat. In fact, it was in Valencia where he began the race to collect guarantees to shore up his leadership in the national PP and, since then, he has made several visits to a territory that is considered strategic for obtaining the key that will open the doors of La Moncloa.

Feijóo’s ascendancy has led Mazón in recent months to show a more pactist profile and offer Puig a series of agreements to seek measures to alleviate inflation and the energy crisis, beyond the differences he has maintained with the head of the Consell in matters such as fiscal and education policy or when claiming water resources for Alicante.

The truth is that perspectives have changed from one year to another. Mazón has benefited from the ‘Feijóo effect’ and the wear and tear that external factors are causing in the PSOE, such as the war, the energy crisis or uncontrolled inflation, but there is still a low degree of awareness.
