User opinion FSV Zwickau: Relegation despite the loss of top performers?

Fan series 3rd league

With the help of the community, Transfermarkt will take a detailed look at the 56 teams in the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2 and Bundesliga 3 in the coming weeks. Which players are the fans looking forward to the most, where is there room for improvement and what is in the squad for 2022/23 for your favorite club? For this we asked around in the forums and picked up assessments – in league three it continues with user “stepser” and FSV Zwickau.

How do you rate the squad of FSV Zwickau?

FSV Zwickau is entering its seventh season as a third division team. In view of the limited financial resources, this is a remarkable success that cannot be overestimated. However, the signs for staying in league three are worse than they have been for a long time. The budget had to be reduced by around 800,000 euros, which is why many top performers from the previous season left. In addition, quarrels within the Supervisory Board made calm preparation more difficult. It took a long time before the first newcomers could be announced.

As for the squad, it can be said that despite all the departures – such as Schikora and Nkansah – it is still positive that two top performers in recent years, Johannes Brinkies and Ronny König, extended their contracts. In addition to Davy Frick, Mike Könnecke, Nils Butzen, Patrick Göbel and Dominic Baumann, they form the framework for the new team. The extension of Maximilian Jansen shortly before his contract expires is also a good sign.

As newcomers, the FSV brought more young talents from the regional and upper leagues such as Noah Shawn Agbaje, Noel Eichinger, Leonhard von Schroetter and Robin Ziegele. It is the job of coach Joe Enochs, but also of the veterans, to integrate these players into the team. The same applies to Lukas Krüger, who came from Meppen, and Till Streller, who switched from the U19s of SV Darmstadt. And a week before the start of the season, Jan Löhmannsröben, a very experienced third division player, could also be brought in, who hopefully can also help the team.

Where do you see a need for improvement by Deadline Day?

In addition, the club wants – and should – get two more players for defense and attack. Especially with scoring goals there was a problem last season. The defence, especially the central defence, is almost completely reorganized after the departure of two players who played a lot last season, Nkansah and Reinthaler. Another central defender would therefore be necessary.

What do you expect from the playful appearance of the team?

In terms of play, it will probably look the same as always in Zwickau. Attempts are made to play down the wings and operate with crosses to Baumann, König or Krüger. As usual, attempts will also be made to achieve success with standards. The back four should still be set because every other experiment didn’t work. However, the newcomers promise that the playful element will also come into play more and new tactics will be tried out, which can take Zwickau away from the reputation of only playing destructive anti-football.

What’s in it for FSV Zwickau in 2022/23?

In any case, it will be a difficult season. A good start to the season would be important in order not to fall into a long negative series like last season when the first win could only be celebrated on the 10th matchday. This time he succeeded in the first game (3:2 against Halle). As always, it’s important that those responsible, as well as the fans and team, don’t panic if some games don’t go so well. It was precisely this calm in the club that made a big contribution to the fact that the FSV was able to master every difficult situation in recent years and was almost always able to make the league perfect early on. Even in this financially difficult year, this cohesion is the most important thing when it comes to experiencing a year eight in league three.
