WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) – Industrial production in the USA surprisingly fell in March. In a month-on-month comparison, it fell by 0.5 percent, the US Federal Reserve announced on Thursday in Washington. Economists, however, had expected an increase of 0.1 percent.
However, production data for February was revised significantly upwards. Accordingly, production increased by 0.7 percent, after only an increase of 0.2 percent had previously been reported.
Capacity utilization of industrial companies fell in March from the previously revised 76.1 to 75.7 percent. Economists had expected 76.3 percent./jkr/la/he
