US rapper Goonew from Maryland was shot in Prince George’s County last Friday night and succumbed to his injuries in hospital just a few hours later. He was 24 years old. Now his relatives have apparently decided on a special way of saying goodbye – which is not for the faint of heart.

In an atmosphere of uncertainty, the rapper’s lifeless body stands in a club wearing a hoodie from luxury brand Amiri and a crown on his head. An image that is currently a topic of conversation on Twitter and is severely dividing the opinions of the community.

It was “by far the strangest funeral service ever held,” one person wrote on Twitter. Others made comparisons with the well-known waxworks Madame Taussauds and consider the Goonew displayed in the club to be more of a figure. However, one visitor to the club added: “No, it’s not a wax figure, my brother went out like a gangsta.”

The somewhat strange staging of the dead is not that unusual in some circles. Finally, the supposedly used method of embalming allows the deceased to attend their own funeral.

Goonew was known in the rap game for his whispery style of speaking. In 2017 he released his first mixtape CERTIFIED GOON. His first studio album STILL SERVIN was released in 2019. In 2018 he celebrated his biggest hit “Homicide Boat” with Lil Yachty.
