Germany prepares 2 patriot systems for Ukraine

Germany prepares the delivery of two patriot systems to Ukraine. That is what the German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius said on Monday in Washington after a meeting with his American colleague Pete Hegseeth.

The delivery is financed by Germany. However, the last technical, logistics and financial details still have to be clarified, according to Pistorius. There are two options: Germany buys two directly available systems from American stock and supplies them directly from there to Ukraine, or the German forces deliver two of their systems to Ukraine and later receive replacement systems from the US.

Earlier on Monday, NATO chef Mark Rutte announced that Ukraine will receive “Air defense weapons, rockets and ammunition” thanks to a new weapon deal with the United States. Buy European countries those of the US, after which they can help Ukraine, Rutte said when US President Donald Trump. So Germany does that now.

Patriots can be used to shoot aircraft, helicopters, drones and rockets from the sky. Each system consists of a number of parts and can launch multiple rockets. Ukraine has various patriot systems and also used them. The Dutch armed forces also has patriot systems.
