The US judicial authorities have apparently started investigations into the US PGA Tour of professional golfers.
The Wall Street Journal reports on Monday. Accordingly, the authorities want to investigate whether the behavior of the US PGA Tour in relation to the Saudi Arabia-backed series LIV Golf could possibly be anti-competitive. The Justice Department did not comment on the reports for the time being.
US PGA had banned players who had switched to the LIV series from PGA tournaments. This affects 24 professionals, including the German Martin Kaymer. Now the judicial authorities want to find out whether the blocks are legal or constitute an antitrust violation.
The next LIV tournament is scheduled for July 29-31 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. At the same time, a PGA Tour tournament is taking place in Detroit.
