The air attack has ended the life of Abu Hashum al Umawi and another high command without causing casualties or damage among civilians

The US Armed Forces carried out this Thursday an airstrike in northern Syria, near the city of Qamishli, in which two senior Islamic State commanders were killed in an operation that the White House has described as “successful”.

Around 6:32 p.m. local time (7:32 p.m. Spanish peninsular time), the US Army has launched an airstrike in which Abu Hashum al Umawi, a Syrian wali (governor) and another senior Islamic State official associated with him, have lost their lives, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported in a statement. During the attack, according to the United States, no civilians were killed or injured. Likewise, the US forces would not have suffered any type of damage or loss.

“This attack will degrade the ability of the Islamic State to destabilize the region and attack our forces and partners,” said CENTCOM commander Michael Kurilla, who assured that the US Armed Forces remain in the region to “ensure the lasting defeat of the State Islamic”.
