Market value update in Croatia

Former Augsburg player Dion Beljo (24) and young professional Luka Stojkovic (22) are among the big winners in the market value update in the Croatian league. Both play at Dinamo Zagreb, where they won the championship title together and have another thing in common: they are not in the national team’s World Cup squad. This was particularly surprising for Beljo.
The fact that the championship title could be brought back to Zagreb after a year in which the record champion failed was also a great achievement of Beljo, who was signed from Augsburg for 4 million euros last summer. The striker scored 31 goals in 36 league games – placed fourth in the race for the Golden Shoe. Five came in eight games in the Europa League. Since Eduardo in the 2006/07 season, there has not been a player at Dinamo who has scored so many championship goals. Mislav Orsic (20/21) recently achieved such a goal tally in the Europa League with six goals – in significantly more games (Dinamo’s top goalscorer by season).
For Beljo, the season has resulted in an improvement that eclipses the previous transfer fee for FCA. Beljo left Germany at the then market value of 4 million euros. Now the market value is three times that: 12 million euros. Highest increase in the league, top value in Croatia. The two-time national player still only has one remaining chance for the World Cup. National coach Zlatko Dalic put him on the reserve list of possible replacements.
Stojkovic is also on this list – second best scorer after Beljo. 13 competitive goals and twelve assists for the domestic league champions were not enough for a World Cup ticket, but they did result in a market value jump of 4 million euros. The attacking midfielder is now worth 7 million euros.
Like Beljo and Stojkovic, Sergi Domínguez is currently not an issue for the World Cup. However, the 21-year-old is also Spanish and may have completed his strong season in Croatia largely unnoticed by his Iberian compatriots. The central defender – who was part of Spain’s U21 team twice in March – increased in market value from 6.5 million to 9 million euros. Next to Rijeka’s midfield ace Toni Fruk (25, without change in market value), this is the second highest value after Beljo. Domínguez only missed a few games in the championship and Europa League and also proved to be a goal threat with two goals and three assists.
The capital city club’s new squad value also shows that Dinamo is back on the throne. Since the start of the season as unusually non-reigning champions, the team’s overall valuation has increased by more than 38 percent to a good 76 million euros. However, there were also occasional devaluations at the top club in the May update – primarily for Ismaël Bennacer (-1 million to 8 million), Raúl Torrente (-1 to 2.5) and the former Mainz player Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel (-1.5 to 1).
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
