A vaccination during outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, Ebola or measles has reduced the number of deaths by around 60 percent in the last 25 years. This is the conclusion of a study by the Australian Burnet Institute that was published this week in trade journal ‘British Medical Journal Global Health’. In addition, a similar number of infections could be prevented. The economic profit of such vaccination campaigns is estimated at several billions of euros.
