Unrecognized goal: DEL admits mistakes

The ice hockey game in Straubing remains lost for the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven after the regular goal was not given.

“Since it was a factual decision on the ice and the subsequent video evidence is also included, the rating of the game remains in place,” said the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

On Friday evening, the referees failed to see a regular goal from Bremerhaven’s Ziga Jeglic. In return, Taylor Leier scored the winning goal to make it 2-1 for Lower Bavaria.

Even after viewing the video images, the guest goal was not recognized. The referees made a “mistake”, said the DEL. The scene should be discussed in detail with those involved.
