United Nations: Only 62 trucks arrived in the Gaza Strip

GENEVA (dpa-AFX) – According to the UN emergency relief office OCHA, a total of 62 trucks with relief supplies arrived in the Gaza Strip between Saturday and Tuesday. This included drinking water, food and medical supplies. Most of it has already been distributed to hospitals and the displaced, OCHA reported on Thursday evening.

The office pointed out that supplies are far from enough to supply the more than 2.3 million people in the Gaza Strip. Before October 7th, around 500 trucks drove into the Gaza Strip every day. Israel banned deliveries for two weeks after the terrorist attacks by the Palestinian organization Hamas, which rules in the Gaza Strip, which left around 1,400 dead in Israel. The first convoy was allowed to leave on Saturday.

Despite numerous requests, the Israeli military has not yet allowed fuel deliveries, OCHA reported. Without fuel, generators could not operate. They are needed, among other things, for water pumps and hospital operations./oe/DP/nas
