In March, the Japanese clothing dealer Uniqlo had already announced that he would move his store in Cologne from Hohe Strasse to Schildergasse. On Tuesday, the company announced that the opening at the new location will take place on September 18.
The retail chain relies on local color: “The mouse from the show with the mouse will inspire a limited T-shirt collection that will be available exclusively in the new Uniqlo business in Cologne,” said the company. At the opening there will also be “a walking act from the mouse through the Schildergasse”. The television program, which has been popular for decades, is produced by Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) in Cologne. In addition, the Cologne artist Marcel Kreuzer “will also design a mural in the shop in addition to a limited T-shirt and taut pocket collection”.
The store in Schildergasse will open on September 18
According to Uniqlo, the new Cologne store in Schildergasse 24-30 will have an area of around 1,450 square meters on three floors. In the future, the retailer will offer its current collections for women, men and children.
Kohsuke Kobayashi, the COO of Uniqlo Germany and Poland, explained the reasons for the upcoming move in the Rhine metropolis. “Cologne is one of the most culturally rich and most diverse cities in Germany,” he emphasized in a statement. “The move to a new, more prominent location reflects our long -term commitment in the region and enables us to offer our customers an improved shopping experience and to build closer relationships with the local community.”
