The winter break actually comes too early for Paul Seguin (27). Against Augsburg (2: 2) the summer new signing from Fürth was in the league for the first time in the starting XI. On Sunday in Freiburg he should stand in for the suspended Rani Khedira (28 / 5th yellow card) in defensive midfield.

It took him a while. Why?

Seguin openly: “I knew that it would take time for me to be who I am again. Last season my head was broken. Fürth’s relegation – I was supposed to go ahead, but I didn’t perform as well. I’m a head person.”

Things didn’t go well for Union at first either. He wasn’t even registered for the Europa League: “It hurt a lot. But I could understand it a bit because some games were better than me.”

Now the difference isn’t that big. He performed well against Augsburg. He also wants to show them in Freiburg. Then it’s vacation.

With wife Victoria we go to Dubai and the Maldives. A great journey. Reason: Both will become parents for the first time in the spring. It’s going to be a girl. Seguin with a laugh: “Then the real work begins.”
